Land Use Code Updates

Last year (2023), the Planning Department worked on several Land Use Code updates focused on removing barriers to workforce housing and affordable housing. Those updates included revising the Poject Boundary Buffer requirement in order to allow for more dense infill development ("infill" provides opportunities for affordable housing), revising the High Density Housing Overlay elgibility requirements to allow more flexibility, and revising the PUD density bonus section in an effort to make that incentive more attractive.

Currently we are working on developing new landscaping requirements, which will make Grand County eligible for the State's Water Savers Rebate Program (an optional program property owners can take advantage of if they choose).

In addition, there are a variety of LUC updates within each Article that the planning department has been tracking over the years. We are currently working with Planning Commission to refine and implement some of these updates. The running list of LUC updates can be found here. (this is only a working list, and has not been approved by the Commission).

Check back here for updates on the most recent versions of the LUC sections being amended.
